Local Food

You’ll notice that I pretty frequently reference specific farms and vendors in my posts.  That’s my way of giving a little love to the people who grow the food I like to buy and eat.

My primary Farmer’s Market is the Pawtuxet Village Market — I’ve been shopping there almost every weekend during the summer season for nearly 5 years now.  When the market shuts down for the winter, I tend to like heading over to the Coastal Growers Market. It’s smaller and not as flashy as the other major wintertime farmer’s market in Rhode Island, the Pawtucket Wintertime Market, but it’s got a nice vibe, great vendors, and the drive from my house is a lot more scenic.

These, of course, are just my market picks, but Farm Fresh Rhode Island is a great resource for choosing lots of different ways to buy and consume local food.  And if you’re not in Rhode Island, then check out Local Harvest for a good start on finding your own perfect balance of locavore madness.
